This autumn we will know in more detail what the new EU Framework Program for Research, FP 7, can offer. And the Forest-based Sector Technology Platform (FTP) has come a long way in developing its Strategic Research Agenda. These are the major reasons for inviting all interested parties to this Forest-based Sector Research Forum. The forum will start at 13.00 hours on November 9, and end by 16.00 hours on November 10. A European Conference Committee is responsible for the program which is published here. Click "Programme" above for the program in web or paper form. The major part of the second day is devoted to a thorough presentation and discussion of the Strategic Research Agenda of the FTP before it is finally launched by the end of the year. The audience includes representatives of European and national authorities; research funding bodies; forest owners; forest industries; allied industries and suppliers to the sector; and of course the research community. Research groupings and committees active within the sector are encouraged to organize their own meetings in connection with the forum. The local organizers can assist with localities. This forum is a joint initiative by the FTP and major representatives of the sector’s European research community: the European Forest Institute (EFI), InnovaWood, and major European pulp & paper research institutes (CTP, KCL, PTS and STFI-Packforsk). The founding organizations behind the FTP are: CEI-Bois (European Confederation of Woodworking Industries), CEPF (Confederation of European Forest Owners) and CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries). The forum is additionally supported by the European Commission, represented by DG Research and DG Enterprise and COST, represented by its Technical Committee for Forests and Forestry Products. Questions regarding the forum can be made by e-mail to info@fbs-research.com or by telephone to +46 8 676 7138 (Åke Hansson) or +46 8 676 7327 (Lennart Eriksson)
